We are five weeks into the 2013 NFL regular season and there are just three teams remaining with a perfect 5-0 record and four teams that are still looking for their first victory of the year. The following is a look at 5Dimes’ early betting lines for some of the more interesting matchups on this week’s slate.
The Houston Texans have been the top dog in the AFC South for the past few seasons, but after a disappointing 2-3 start that has them in third place in their division their reign at the top could be coming to an end if they do not start stringing together a few wins. This Sunday Houston will play host to 2-3 St. Louis as an 8.5-point favorite with the total set at 43.
The surprising Cleveland Browns find themselves in unfamiliar territory with a 3-2 start that has them tied with Baltimore and Cincinnati atop the AFC North. They will try and extend their current winning streak to four games as 2.5-point home underdogs against Detroit this Sunday afternoon. The total for this inter-conference matchup has been set at 45.
The defending-champion Ravens moved to 3-2 by outlasting Miami 26-23 on the road last Sunday. This time around they return home to face the 2-2 Green Bay Packers in another huge inter-conference showdown. Baltimore has been opened as a 2.5-point home underdog in this contest with the total set at 48.
A third inter-conference clash on Sunday’s schedule sends 3-2 Tennessee on the road to Seattle. The 4-1 Seahawks suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Indianapolis this past Sunday. They have been opened as 14.5-point favorites against this AFC South opponent with the total line set at 40.
The Arizona Cardinals rolled over Carolina 22-6 last Sunday to move to a surprising 3-2 on the year, while San Francisco hammered Houston 34-3 to arrive at the exact same mark after suffering a couple of unexpected losses. This Sunday these two NFC West rivals will square off against one another at Candlestick Park. The 49ers have been opened as 12.5-point favorites with the total set at 41.5.
